TEHRAN – Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati is scheduled attend the celebration of Hafez National Day, which will be held today at his mausoleum in Shiraz.

Foreign ambassadors, cultural attachés and a number of literati, scholars and experts on Hafez are expected to attend the ceremony, Persian media reported on Sunday.

The Hamavayan Ensemble led by tar and setar virtuoso Hossein Alizadeh has been invited to give a performance during the ceremony.

The ensemble will perform the latest pieces by Alizadeh composed in honor of Hafez.

Expert on Hafez Asghar Dadbeh is scheduled to give a lecture on Hafez after which a group of young musicians from Shiraz will give a daf performance. Later on the attendees will cast flowers on tomb of Hafez.

The celebrated Iranian poet Hafez, whose divan is regarded as one of the pinnacles of Persian classical literature, is a 14th-century Persian poet and mystic highly revered by Iranians and famous writers and scholars around the world.
